You’ve decided to create a new website.  You’ve chosen Joomla to create this new website.

First of all, great choice!  Joomla is a wonderful way to create powerful, professional-looking websites.

But now that you have chosen Joomla, there are still things you’ll need to get started.

Joomla Website Host

First of all, you’ll need to get a website host for your new website if you want the website online (and isn’t that sort of the point?).

We talk about affordable Joomla hosting options here.

Joomla Templates

You’ll also need a Joomla template, which is basically how your website will look.  You could get a generic template that you could use for a lot of different types of websites.  You can find some of these Joomla templates here.

Or you could use a more specific one for your niche.  Here are lists of Joomla templates that might be helpful to you depending on what your website will be about:

Joomla Extensions

Sometimes when you are creating a new website, you want to add a feature to your website that is not part of your template.  In this case, you could get a Joomla extension.

Here are a few Joomla extensions you could get:

Joomla SEO Optimization

When creating your Joomla website, you’re going to want to make sure you keep search engine optimization (otherwise known as SEO) in mind.  Basically, it’s not enough just to create a website.  You want to make sure search engines can crawl your website and your website will show up as high as possible in search engines.  You want people to find your website.

A great way to make sure your Joomla website is optimized with the best SEO practices is with this Joomla SEO extension.

Joomla Site Speed

You’ll also want to make sure your website works as fast as possible.  That not only helps you with your SEO.  But it also just makes for a better user experience.  And that will help your bounce rate.  What I mean by that is that it will cut down on people quickly leaving your website because they are frustrated by the website’s speed.  And I know you don’t want that!

We give you tips for speeding up your Joomla website here.
