Do you have a WordPress blog or website? Did you know that you can add Amazon product images by using a plugin for Amazon affiliates in WordPress?

Let’s back up a little bit. If you’re part of the Amazon Associates affiliate program, you’ve probably noticed that you can no longer add product images using SiteStripe (the banner at the top of the Amazon website when you’re logged in). We previously discussed how to convert those SiteStripe images here.

But that only works for changing the existing Amazon images on your website. Since you can’t use SiteStripe anymore, how can you add Amazon product images with affiliate links to your website going forward?

Luckily, there’s an easy solution for that. And that’s by using a powerful Amazon affiliate WP plugin: AffiAi!

We’ve used the AFFI AI plugin for Amazon images on multiple websites, and it’s worked very well. And a couple of times when I had questions about something, I was impressed with how quickly their support team responded back.

Today, we’re going to share how to use the AFFI.AI affiliate WordPress plugin to add specific Amazon images to your WordPress posts or pages. Each of those Amazon product images will have your affiliate link attached. (You can use AFFI.AI for other affiliate programs, such as eBay or AliExpress, but we’re only going to look at Amazon today.)

So let’s get started! Please note that if you’ve already gotten the AFFI AI plugin and set it up for Amazon, then you can skip down to Step 4.

Step 1 – Purchase the AFFI AI Plugin

Obviously, you’ll need to have the AFFI AI plugin to use it, right?

You can purchase the WordPress plugin here.

If you’re only adding it to one website, you can choose the cheapest option, the Single site license.

However, if you’re using it on four sites or more, then you should choose one of the options that include multiple sites. (If you have two or three websites and aren’t planning on starting more, then it’s cheaper to just buy two or three of the Single site licenses.)

Step 2 – Set Up the AFFI AI Plugin

Once you’ve bought it, you’ll need to install it and add the license key you got when you purchased it. You can find out how to do that in the plugin documentation here.

Step 3 – Add Your Amazon Associates Info

You’ll need to get an Amazon API key and tracking ID to use the plugin. This may sound complicated or intimidating, but all you’re really doing is getting some strings of letters and numbers and pasting them into the plugin’s dashboard.

You can find out how to get your Amazon tracking ID and API key here.

After that, you’ll go to your WordPress dashboard and select the AFFI AI plugin from the menu on the left side.

Click on the Amazon tab, and then input your Amazon tracking ID and API keys.

Don’t forget to hit “Save Changes” at the bottom.

Step 4 – Adding Amazon Images with the Plugin

Now we’ve reached the fun part – adding images to your blog posts or website pages!

For our purposes, we’ll be looking at how to add an image for a specific Amazon product, as opposed to having AI choose the product for us. There are other ways to use the AFFIAI plugin, but this tutorial is for adding an Amazon image for a particular product with AFFIAI.

First, we’ll go over how to do this using the Gutenberg editor. And then we’ll see how to add the Amazon product images with the classic editor.

Gutenberg Editor

Click on the black plus sign to add a block.

Search “affiai” and the AFFI AI logo should appear.

Click on the logo and you’ll see a product box (which we’re about to customize).

On the right hand side, under “SEARCH TYPE,” we’ll choose ASIN (Amazon) from the drop down menu. The ASIN basically refers to the IDs that Amazon assigns to each product.

So we’ll need to get the ASIN for the product we want to link to. We can find the ASIN in the URL of the page for the product. It’s the string of number and letters together. We’ll copy that ASIN.

Finding the ASIN in the URL of an Amazon product

Back in WordPress, on that right hand side where it says “Enter your ASIN here,” we’ll paste that ASIN that we just copied from part of the URL.

So if the URL is https://www.amazon.com/YUNISS-Headbands-Princess-Accessories-Decorations/dp/B0C85Y653X/ then the ASIN we copy and paste is B0C85Y653X.

Now, we only want to show the product image for this one product. So on the right hand side, we’ll click on where it says “Template” to change the template (since by default it’s set up for 3 images).

Still on the right side under Template, under where it says “PRODUCTS NUMBER,” change the number from 3 to 1.

Now, if you save your draft and preview it (or publish it), you’ll see that it’s showing the one product.

This is displayed in grid form. If you’d like to instead use a box (which will take up less space in that it will be shorter in height), you can do that, too. Back in WordPress, on the right hand side, you’ll pick “Box” from the drop down menu where it says “LIST DESIGN” under “Template”.

This time, if you save your draft and preview or publish it, you can see that it’s now displaying the product in a different form, the box format.

Classic Editor

Click on the Affiai button near the top, next to Add Media.

In WordPress, from the different options under “Create your product list,” choose ASIN (ID Amazon). The ASIN is just the ID # (or could be numbers and letters) that Amazon uses for each product. And you can just get it from the Amazon URL, as we’ll see in the next step.

In Amazon, copy and paste the part of the URL that is a bunch of letters and numbers.

For example, if the URL is https://www.amazon.com/Vietnamese-Made-Easy-Simple-Recipes/dp/1787139689/ then the ASIN is 1787139689.

In WordPress, paste the code you just copied into the box where it says -> ASIN Code(s).

In WordPress, click on “Insert Shortcode”.

And that’s it!*

In the WordPress backend, it will show up as a weird looking shortcode, such as [ affiai asin=”B0CBCVBG1V” count=”1″ template=”grid” ].

But if you preview your blog entry, it will show up as an image with a link & price.

*If you want it to be smaller, there’s an extra step before you click on Insert Shortcode. In that case, in WordPress, click on General Settings and click on the button next to Box.

Here is the difference between grid and box. The first is a grid and the second is a box.

Conclusion

You can use the AFFI AI WordPress plugin for a number of things, both as an Amazon affiliate and with other affiliate programs.

Today, we discussed how you can create an image for an Amazon product using the AFFIAI plugin. We looked at how to do this with the Gutenberg editor and with the Classic editor. This is a great way to create Amazon product images with affiliate links on your WordPress website or blog.
