Using a Pinterest scheduler can be a game changer. It can help you pin more & reach more people – all while saving you valuable time that you can spend on other aspects of your business.
It can be hard, though, to know which is the best Pinterest scheduler to use.
You certainly want to use one that is an approved partner with Pinterest – otherwise, you run the risk of having your account suspended. Luckily, Pinterest does have a number of approved partners you can use. One of those partners is Tailwind. (NOTE: Unfortunately, Viraltag is no longer an official approved partner.)
Now, I am a long time Tailwind user and a big fan. Still, I’m always looking for the best ways to run my business. Recently, I had the opportunity to try Viraltag, and I was excited to see how it compared to Tailwind.
While both certainly have a lot to offer, here are 5 reasons I like Tailwind more than Viraltag for Pinterest scheduling:
-
-
It’s more intuitive: Now, of course you expect a learning curve when you try any new technology, but I found the learning curve longer with Viraltag than with Tailwind. When I first tried Viraltag, I wanted to be able to use it immediately since a big reason to use a scheduler is to save time, but it took me longer to get comfortable with Viraltag. I was able to get used to Tailwind a lot quicker, in part because there are more tutorials provided that help you become more comfortable a lot quicker.

Less time consuming: In addition to wanting to be able to use a scheduler quickly, you also want it to take as little time as possible, since the whole idea of a scheduler is to save you time. Tailwind is quicker for me to use than Viraltag. Both services let you do interval scheduling, which is when you space out your pins by a specific time interval. However, Tailwind lets you do it in days and hours, while Viraltag has you do it in minutes. For example, let’s say I want a pin to be scheduled to different boards every 2 days and 1 hour. With Tailwind, I set the interval to 2d and 1h. With Viraltag, I have to do the math: (2 x 24 x 60) + 60, for 2 days times 24 hours times 60 minutes plus an extra 60 minutes for that extra hour. While this math isn’t impossible, having to stop and calculate is time consuming and just feels unnecessarily so.
-
Better scheduler display: For me, Tailwind is a lot easier to see at a glance. Here are a few screenshots of the scheduler display for Tailwind and Viraltag.
Now, the Tailwind account has been around a lot longer and has far more pins scheduled. Still, this can give you an idea of how the schedule is displayed on both Tailwind and Pinterest. Tailwind has a second view but the one I included is the one I always use. I love how you can see more detail about the pins (like the descriptions) on the left side and quickly glance to see how much you have scheduled on the right side. With Viraltag, you have to go back and forth between the displays to get all of that information.
-
It’s cheaper: Tailwind cost less for me, which for obvious reasons is appealing to me. Part of what you pay for with Viraltag is that you can use it for different social profiles, but not everyone is going to heavily use each social profile. For example, you may want to use something for Pinterest, but have no interest in using a scheduler for Tumblr or Linkedin.
-
Tribes: Tailwind gives you the ability to do tribes, which are a wonderful way for you to get your pins more noticed and get more shares and clicks. (Tribes are a bit like group boards, but with more accountability as the owner can see how many pins everyone has added and shared.) Viraltag does not have anything like that.
