Are you thinking about using Drupal to start a new website?  Drupal is a free and open-source Content Management System (CMS) that I have used before to build a website.  There are many advantages to using Drupal.  So I want to go over some of those key features and benefits that make Drupal so appealing to web developers.

  • Flexibility: This is the main reason I used Drupal to build a website.  I had a specific website idea in mind and while I normally build websites with WordPress, I couldn’t get WordPress to do what I wanted.  It was easier with Drupal because it is more flexible.
  • Free: Creating a website using Drupal is free, and you can use it without any fees.  That is the other reason I used Drupal.  It significantly cut down on my overhead costs of starting a website.
  • Active Community: There is an active community of Drupal creators you can turn to them if you’re having any trouble creating your website.  I have done this as well as attended Drupal conferences, which can be very helpful.
  • Great Taxonomy System: I found the taxonomy system great for organizing and categorizing content.
  • User Management System: Drupal makes it easy for you to manage who access and edits your website.
  • API-First Architecture: Drupal’s API-First Initiative, which means your content is suitable for decoupled or headless CMS implementations.
  • Accessibility: Drupal Core is accessible by default, making a website build by Drupal more accessible to anyone with disabilities.
  • Multilingual: Drupal has built-in features that help you create and maintain multilingual websites.
